Pragmatic Play Now Licensed to Operate in Argentina

In early December 2021, casino software developer Pragmatic Play broke the news that they’ve been licensed to operate in Argentina. This will bring Pragmatic’s huge portfolio to a new audience of thousands of Argentinian players.

Pragmatic Play Breaking Into the LatAm Market

Buenos Aires Slot License

This new license to operate has been issued by Lotería de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires, or LOTBA. Of course, this authority only has jurisdiction over the country’s capital of Buenos Aires. However, it’s an important step towards breaking into a wholly new market. Buenos Aires acts as an autonomous city in Argentina’s system of 23 federal states. However, it’s just one part of Pragmatic Play’s big plans for both Argentina and South America at large.

This new license applies to both online gambling offers and land-based casinos. Specifically, award-winning Pragmatic Play slots such as Gates of Olympus, Sweet Bonanza, and Wolf Gold will become available on physical slot machines across the city. Moreover, top online casinos in Argentina will now be able to feature Pragmatic Play’s portfolio.

Interestingly, the announcement only mentions slots and slot machines. There has so far been no mention of the company’s live casino, virtual sports, or bingo lineup.

Pragmatic Play cited their interest in the LatAm market and the vibrant casino culture of the continent as the driving forces behind the new licensing.

The Scramble for South America

This news is one of the many we’ve heard recently about software providers focusing on LatAm. As one of the fastest-growing gambling markets in the world, South America is becoming increasingly attractive to casino operators.

Pragmatic Play has had more success than most, though. Earlier this year, they picked up the Best Game Producer at the Brazilian iGaming Summit Awards.
