Delano Las Vegas at Mandalay Bay to Open in September
- May 8, 2014 By Staff Writer -
MGM Resorts have announced they are already accepting reservations at Delano Las Vegas, the extravagant boutique hotel taking over from THEhotel at the Mandalay Bay. Interested parties can already make reservations online or via phone for stays beginning September 1.
The 1,100 suite property is being completely renovated and modelled after the Delano hotel in South Beach, Florida. With the Delano brand very popular among customers from Europe and Latin America, MGM Resorts is hoping this new venture will seriously increase their operating profits.
The non-smoking exclusive hotel will feature personalized service and luxury environment, with unique coffee bar, Franklin lounge and café designed as three public spaces offering customers additional socializing opportunities.
Mandalay Bay president Chuck Bowling has explained reasons behind the decision to transform The Hotel despite the resort constantly turning an impressive profit.
“It’s been an amazing run. Marketing is my background, so one of the unique things is we wanted to do it as part of the overall transformation happening at Mandalay Bay. This is now the next level of what that is. It’s not just a renovation but a total transformation of a tower at Mandalay Bay with its own identity and secret hideaway.
“More and more international people are coming to Las Vegas, and that is our biggest growth opportunity. Delano has a tremendous brand. Now I’ll have a South Beach for the international Latin market and European market.
“We wanted an immediate identity that we could use. The Delano gives us that, plus a chance to continue to tell an incredible story. Now we’ll have even more reasons to come back to Las Vegas, and that’s the real reason for making a change and having a new building — to add to the excitement of our story.”
The new hotel has been designed as a secret hideaway, but being so close to the action, it gives the customers a chance to enjoy the hectic Las Vegas lifestyle when they choose to do so.
The renovation should be complete by September this year, and the best thing here is that the hotel will be fully functional throughout the renovation process, with only two floors being closed at a time and reopened within a week.
