The director of the Sam’s Town Casino and Hotel that is located in Shreveport has been accused of stealing a minimum of $9,000.00 from the casino.
The director of the slot machine casino, Frank Leeper of Haughton was booked Friday January 15, 2016 with a felony charge of theft within the Caddo Parish Correctional Facility.
The State Police Gamming Enforcement Division was contacted by casino officials on Monday January 11, 2016 after they had discovered Frank Leeper was creating fake credit payouts in order to defraud the casino and hotel business, stated State Police in a news release. Frank Leeper was the director of the Casino and Hotel slot machines at this time.
Further investigation revealed that Frank Leeper stole an excess of #3,000.00 from the casino and hotel on at least three different occasions, this release also stated.
After Frank Leeper arrived at work on Friday, January 15, 2016 he was arrested. Frank then allegedly confessed to stealing the money that he has been accused of. The investigation into this matter is still continuing and additional charges may be filed against Frank Leeper, stated the Police.
At this time there has been no evidence that points to any casino patron being defrauded, according to the State Police.
Col. Mike Edmonson the State Police superintendent stated that the arrest is believed to be the first of a “key employee” that has been in the gaming hierarchy in the state of Louisiana. “The trust the general public places in us to ensure that their gaming experience is fair is not an issue that we take lightly. Our troopers work diligently night as well as day in order to protect the public interest as well as to ensure that the integrity of gaming in Louisiana stays intact.”
