Lucky Dragon Casino to Open Its Doors in Las Vegas

Lucky Dragon Hotel and Casino set for 3rd December grand opening.

Asia-oriented Lucky Dragon will soon become the first new casino to open in Las Vegas in some six years, following on the 2010 launch of Cosmopolitan Last Vegas Hotel and Casino.

Leading land-based casino establishments in both Las Vegas and Atlantic City have endured some tough times of late, and there were not too many gaming companies ready to build new casinos from scratch in said gambling meccas.

Nevertheless, the negative trend is set to end as Lucky Dragon Hotel and Casino will have its grand opening on 3rd December. The soft opening was performed on Friday, giving limited audience a chance to check out the new property.

Lucky Dragon Targeting Asian Gamers

As the name suggests, the new gaming venue will be predominantly targeting Asian gamblers, with Asian players from California, Nevada, Vancouver and Pacific Northwest at the centre of attention.

Chances are that Lucky Dragon will also be looking to attract residents of China and other Asian countries, especially now that direct flights from Beijing to Las Vegas will take place three times a week.

Located on the Sahara Avenue, close to the Las Vegas Strip, the new gambling venue will not be as big as some of the other Las Vegas casinos, offering mere 203 hotel rooms and a 27,500-square feet gambling floor.

The floor will feature around 300 slot machines and 37 gaming tables, most of which will offer Asia’s favourites baccarat and pai gow. Just four blackjack tables and absence of craps are enough to suggest that Lucky Dragon will not be bothered by interests of gamers from US and Europe.

Seeing as how number 4 is considered unlucky in China and some other Asian countries, the hotel will have no 4th floor, while a huge 23-foot-tall glass dragon will be hanging from the ceiling in the middle of the gaming floor.

Hotel signs will be displayed in both Mandarin and English, but even VP of marketing Jordan Seager spoke to reporters in Mandarin during a press tour, and everything suggests the venue will be virtually exclusive to Asian gamblers.
