2 Indian Nation Tribes Narrowed Down Location for New Casino

The Mohegan and the Mashantucket Pequot Tribes have finally tapered down their possibilities for the location of a new casino which will be in Connecticut and it will be the third casino that will be located there.

This past Friday the two tribes have announced that Windsor Locks as well as East Winsor have advance to the next segment of the overall site selection procedure. Overall, this means that the three other possible locations East Hartford, South Windsor, and Hartford are no longer in the running and no longer a will be considered as a location.

Kevin Brown who is the Council Chairman for the Mohegan Tribe stated that they sincerely appreciate South Windsor’s, Hartford, as well as East Hartford’s attentiveness in working with them on this very significant project, and that they could not have been better partners. Yet despite all of the enthusiasm to work together as well as the actual belief in the total significance of this very large investment, they could not find a proper location that would have met all of the criteria that they were in fact looking for.

Rodney Butler who is the Council Chairman for the Mashantucket Pequot Tribe continued by stating that they have come to the conclusion that Windsor Locks and East Windsor are the best options that support their expansion models and will reserve more jobs as well as revenue for the state.

These two tribes are looking to construct a brand new, joint casino in northern Connecticut in order to contend with a casino venture that is now under construction located in Massachusetts.  The tribes have stated that the state established that the project in Massachusetts will actually further hurt the state’s finances by an estimated amount of 70 million dollars in the very first year of its operation.
