Svenska Spel Is Ready For the Future
- October 6, 2017 By Riley Wilson -
Swedish state-owned gambling company Svenska Spel will lose the monopoly in its domestic market once the new regulations come into effect on January 1, 2019.
According to the company’s Chief Executive Officer Lennart Käll, the game monopoly still exists only on paper, since it’s already gone in practice.
Ambitious Plans
The new regulations will set a licensing system, which will introduce rights and obligations for all operators. Furthermore, the new legal frame will outlaw all those companies operating without a license.
Svenska Spel welcomes this move since it will offer equal conditions for everyone competing in the market. Lennart Käll said the brand was confident in its abilities and would make the most out of its market position.
The company sees a great potential for future growth and will rely on products that are currently not on offer. One of those products is online casino, which will be available at Svenska Spel’s offices in Gotland and Solna.
Käll added there were no plans to move the head office, at least not at this moment. The company’s headquarters are located in Visby and currently employ 370 people.
During this year, 16 people have been welcomed to the firm, with the majority of them working in IT. Käll says their arrival is not a part of some market offensive since Svenska Spell is already well-prepared for any business endeavor.
Svenska Spel CEO stated the company was looking forward to finding new titles to expands its offer and to reach a wider audience of players. According to him, the current trends are being closely monitored in order to act on time and give the players what they desire.
Responsible Gaming a Priority
Käll said the company paid special attention to gaming responsibilities.
He emphasized Svenska Spel was actively engaged in promoting its voluntary self-excluding program, and even had a service offering its consumers to create their own gaming budget.
Käll stated the industry as a whole must give its maximum to detect and prevent any problem behavior and added Svenska Spel was not interested in gaining revenue from addicts.
