Microgaming Partners with Lisa Low Centre
- October 18, 2018 By Riley Wilson -
Microgaming has announced it has partnered with The Lisa Lowe Centre to offer its employees mental health awareness training.
This move should result in an increase of overall workplace well-being and represents a part of the company’s Time to Change campaign, whose ultimate goal is to end mental health discrimination in the workplace.
The renowned developer has also announced it will introduce fully trained mental health first aiders.
Focusing on Employees’ Well-Being
Commenting on the new partnership, Gareth Nicholson for the Lisa Lowe Centre said they were pleased to see local companies recognising that supporting the mental health of their employees was as important as the usual physical health support, as one supported the other.
Nicholson pointed out that the Lisa Low Centre, as a charity working to increase their remit in this area, was delighted to be working with Microgaming, who was also at the forefront in recognising the need to change.
Through its cooperation with the centre, Microgaming will offer its employees specifically adapted well-being and mental health awareness training sessions. The company’s line managers are to be taught how to recognise the signs and symptoms of issues related to mental health, whilst given practical strategies which could be used to support their colleagues and members of their teams.
Via these sessions, staff will be advised on how to focus on mental health disorder awareness, common stress triggers, and tools to be used to deal with them. The ultimate goal of this campaign is to erase the stigma that surrounds mental health.
Creating a Supportive Environment
Jean-Luc Ferriere, Chief Commercial Officer at Microgaming said the Isle of Man-based company strived to maintain a culture where everyone felt comfortable to speak up about any problems they might have.
He added that through working with The Lisa Lowe Centre, Microgaming could train its managers to better recognise the signs of potential mental health issues, and be well equipped to help their team and colleagues.
Ferriere believes this will strengthen the firm’s commitment to erasing the stigma by encouraging an open environment where people will feel free to talk about their mental health, and know that they will always get the necessary support.
