Online Vs Land-Based Craps

The Basic Rules of Craps
Probably one of the most dynamic casino games, Craps is no place for introvert players who prefer strategic rather than the social factor of the game. If you have always been intrigued by the commotion and cheering during the Craps session but were too afraid to join the action, be advised that you are missing out on a great deal of fun. Although it may seem complex at the first glance (mostly due to the intricate table layout), Craps is rather simple in its essence. The round is initiated by the players, who take turns in rolling the dice.
Whoever has the dice is called the Shooter and Craps round starts with the Come Out Roll of the dice, preceded by submitting the bets. If the dice total is 2, 3 and 12, the round ends with an unfavourable outcome for all the players who wagered on Pass Line (7 or 11), The roll that totals in 7 and 11 also ends the round, while totals of 4 to 6 and 8 to 10 will establish the point value and start the next stage of the game. If the next round results in either 7 or the point value, the new Come Out round follows and the Shooter will pass on the dice to the fellow player at the table.
Online vs Land-Based Craps – advantages and disadvantages of Online Craps game in comparison to Land-Based variant
There are no differences in the game rules and structure between the Online and Land Based Craps variations. However, in terms of functionality, the required number of dealers and overall dynamics, we may as well be talking about two different games altogether.
If you are new to Craps and you still see the table as a control room in a nuclear power plant, it is highly recommended that you start with the online version. Thanks to the virtual table and strategically placed game commands, Online Craps comes with a significantly reduced stress level, caused by the urgency of placing bets which is characteristic of the Land Based casino game variance. Also, it is easier to keep track of your bets online, even if you are not familiar with the game lingo. The Live version requires at least a basic knowledge of the Craps table and bet types, otherwise, the players can be put in an embarrassing position.
The key factors that separate brick and mortar Craps from its online counterpart are the following:
- Casino etiquette
- Dice roll
- Betting rules
The first factor applies to following a set of pre-determined rules and behavioural guidelines which is important at every casino table, but not showing respect for other players and going ahead of time in placing bets is particularly frowned upon in Craps, due to a larger volume of players crowding the table and the limited decision-making time. Inappropriately tipping the dealer and being an obnoxious winner or a sore loser also falls under undesirable casino behaviour and for those who are not sure how to act, observing other players may give you a pretty good idea of what you are doing wrong (for example, saying the word seven should be avoided at all costs and doing so is considered distasteful).
Online Craps is a lot more flexible and shields the player from any unwanted attention, especially when it comes to tipping the dealer. This is usually resolved by the separate “Tips” button which you simply need to click if you would like to treat your dealer.
Placing bets and throwing the dice in Online Craps is a matter of no more than a few clicks. In the Land Based variant, on the other hand, the staff carefully monitors your movements to make sure that you are not simply sliding the dice. This brings us to another crucial difference between the two Craps versions – staff at the table and their roles. Land Based game has Dealers who interact with the players and the Stickman, who is responsible for collecting the dice. The dice are rolled by the players themselves. Since physical contact with the dice is obviously not possible in Online Craps version, one of the Dealers will roll the Dice on player’s behalf.
Ultimately, your level of experience and personal preferences will lead you to the best possible choice, adjusted to your own gameplay style and goals. With that said, playing at the live Craps table can truly be uplifting and extremely exciting and everybody should experience it at least once.
