Rooks Revenge Slots - BetSoft
ABOUT ROOK’S REVENGE SLOTS
Welcome to the land of the ancient Maya, where the mighty chief Rook has a bit of a mask problem! As you spin through this 5 reel, 25 payline slot, you might have a feeling that you experienced this before. It isn’t just you, the game is more or less a clone of Gonzo’s Quest, with a different coat of paint.
And while the gameplay is exactly the same, the theme is new and different. The graphics are superb, and the visual effects with rocks crumbling while your chief dances off to the side is quite well done. As you go through the slot, you will find several different masks that you will need to get rid of as you go through Rook’s Revenge.
As far as special symbols go, we have Wilds which is a golden question mark on a black stone background. They substitute for all symbols, and only appear on reels 2, 3 and 4. Additionally, we have Scatters, which are golden masks, and are used to activate the Free Spins feature.
HOW TO PLAY
Keeping with the charming Mayan theme, the user interface is both clean as it shows you all the things you can tinker with, while looking like part of the game itself. The different shades of brown might be a bit too much in the long run, however.
Playable from $0.50 up to $125, the slot allows you to adjust both coin value and bet level. Thanks to the way this Betsoft release was designed, the potential for massive wins is great, but it has a generally low RTP, which may dissuade high rollers from trying it out despite the beautiful exterior that it offers.
OTHER FEATURES
Thanks to the cascading reels, you can pile on big wins very quickly with a bit of luck. Each time a connection is made, the rocks explode, and your multiplier increases, although in our experiences that sort of thing tends to be rare compared to other slots that also make use of this system.
Bonus Round
Three or more Scatters will activate the free spins. It is very impressive visually, as the fat chief leads you onto a different set of reels in the background. You can get additional spins while the bonus rounds are active. And as a cherry on top, the multiplier increases by a bigger margin while the free spins are active.
Scatter Symbol
Unfortunately, Scatters are not as exciting in Rook’s Revenge as they can be in other games. They are simply in the game to activate the bonus round feature, which is a disappointment.
Jackpot
While the slot is not progressive, it can be difficult to really put the upper limit for this Betsoft release. In the base game itself, you can only go up to $2,500, but thanks to the cascading reels and increasing multipliers, you could potentially keep chaining wins into a massive payout.
To avoid this issue, the slot limits your wins to 2,330,000 coins, and it tells you as much at the starting screen which introduces you to the game. But in our experience, the odds of getting to that number are very low.
ROOK’S REVENGE ON MOBILE
The release on mobile phones and tablets will leave people happy, but a lot of the graphical fidelity was sacrificed to make things work properly on those platforms. The chief no longer jumps around or dances, and the visual effects are lowered to stop jittering.
And while this is a slight disappointment, it does help make the slot feel smooth to play. The rest of the gameplay is exactly the same, so we suggest giving it a spin on the platform of your choice.
