Biloxi is considered to be the Right Spot for the Foxwoods Casino
- June 6, 2016 By Samantha A. -
On Tuesday the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation announced their plans for building a Foxwoods Casino in Biloxi. The Mississippi Gaming Commission has already approved the site where the old Heinz plant is located on Pine Street.
This project that will be taking place in East Biloxi just may be getting a jump start with a new partner to invest. These plans call for a 265 million dollar project at what will be known as The Point in Biloxi.
Chris Ferrara the developer just may have found the partner that he has needed in order to move forward with this huge project. The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation, which indeed is the Tribal Nation that owns as well as operates the immense Foxwoods Casino that is located in Connecticut, has signed on as a partner in this East Biloxi project.
The Heinz pet food plant that is located on Pine Street has ultimately sat vacant for years in East Biloxi. The ultimate goal of this project is to transform this eyesore into a world class casino that will have 70,000 square feet of convention space, 50,000 square feet of ultimate gaming space, as well as a 500 room hotel.
Before his pursuit of these casino plans, Chris Ferrara developed the adjacent Biloxi Boardwalk marina as well as the seafood restaurant that is now known as the Biloxi Lugger.
The manager of the restaurant is very excited about the possibilities of a world class casino and resort located just next door. He is excited for the prospects of bringing a lot of new customers to the area, and that they are going to be prepared for such an event.
Frank Parker, the current year’s shrimp king has stated that he also is excited about this opportunity.
