- March 8, 2018 By Riley Wilson -
The Isle of Man-headquartered software development company Microgaming has donated a total of £30,000 that will be split between four charities.
The donation has been made through the company’s corporate social responsibility initiative PlayItForward.
Donating To Charities Around The Globe
The Gift of Giving campaign, as a part of this initiative, offers Microgaming’s customers a chance to cast a vote for one of several charities in their respective region. The charities are categorized in four global regions: Isle of Man, the United Kingdom and Europe, Africa, and Rest of the World.
December last year saw the fifth annual Gift of Giving campaign took place, with total donations reaching £150,000.
These four charities received the highest number of votes in their respective regions: Women’s Refuge (Isle of Man), Teenage Cancer Trust (the UK and Europe), Save the Rhino International (Africa) and Médecins Sans Frontières (Rest of the World).
Based on the Isle of Man, Women’s Refuge has been providing temporary accommodation for the victims of domestic abuse for over two decades. According to Thelma Lomax, the latest donation will ensure the organization continues to offer this service, vital for vulnerable women and children on the island.
Making A Positive Change
Teenage Cancer Trust works with cancer patients aged 13-24, offering them and their families support the hard times and helping them cope with different ways this disease can influence a person. The donation will help the charity expand its reach and offer its services to every young person with cancer in the United Kingdom.
Save the Rhino International will receive its third donation in last three years. The goal of this organization is to support all endangered rhino species living in Africa and Asia. Over the last three years, the gaming giant has donated £25,500 to Save the Rhino International.
Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an international medical humanitarian organization, that has been delivering emergency aid around the world for nearly a half a century. This is also its third time to win the Gift of Giving campaign, after receiving the highest number of votes in 2014 and 2016.
Microgaming’s Senior Internat Brand Manager Kate Moughtin said the campaign had been running for five successful years and added it was fantastic to be creating positive change through PlayItForward initiative.
