Microgaming to Launch New Village People Slot Next Year
- September 13, 2018 By Riley Wilson -
The leading online games developer Microgaming has recently announced it has put to pen a new licensing deal with ITV Studios Global Entertainment.
Under the provisions of the new agreement, the Isle of Man-based online software company will develop a brand-new slot game inspired by Village People, an American disco group best known for their on-stage costumes, catchy tunes, suggestive lyrics, and a number of popular hits, such as the Y.M.C.A.
Hitting the Market in 2019
According to available information, the upcoming video slot will go live next year and will feature some of the group’s memorable hits, including Y.M.C.A, Macho Man, In the Navy, and Go West.
Following their debut album in 1977, Village People quickly rose to popularity. Over the years, they launched several disco and dance hits, revolutionising the scene. Their songs helped the group become recognizable all over the world.
Once the game is launched, players can look forward to seeing the famous Village People characters on the reels, including the Construction Worker, the Biker and the Cowboy, while the slot’s theme will be inspired by the 1970s disco scene.
Apart from its visuals, the game should also bring plenty of opportunities to grab rewarding wins.
Bringing a Whole New Dimension
Commenting on the decision to launch a game based on the iconic disco group, Andrew Clucas, Chief Operating Officer at Microgaming stated Village People was an iconic brand that had created an impact on pop culture with songs that had remained popular with mainstream audiences since the 70s and 80s.
Clucas also said the company was proud to announce the development of a new game which would feature the band’s greatest hits and members for the first time in online slot form and added this would bring a whole new dimension to the developer’s extensive portfolio of branded content.
Once the game is out there, it will join Microgaming’s extensive portfolio of high-quality video slots, which also includes Rainbrew. Developed in partnership with Just For The Win, Rainbrew was launched last month, combining an exciting Irish theme with plenty of opportunities to find the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow (if you know what we mean).
