New Gambling Self-Exclusion Technology to Help Problem Gamblers
- July 9, 2018 By Oliver Young -
Reputable gambling operators have been constantly highlighting the importance of self-exclusion tools as these are crucial when it comes to helping problem gamblers avoid over-spending. Bencon Technologies, a tech company based in Vancouver, Canada has heard these called and developed a brand-new software that offers real-time self-exclusion from all gambling sites.
This new product is named GameSecure and it has already earned the support of the National Council on Problem Gambling. The tool promises a fast and effective way of self-exclusion to at-risk gamblers, but also helps operators to tackle regulatory issues that are giving them lots of headaches.
For example, everyone remembers the massive £2 million fine issued to 32Red for failing to protect a customer, something that possibly could’ve been avoided if the GameSecure tool was incorporated.
Self-Exclusion in Real Time and From All Operators in a Jurisdiction
The reason why GameSecure is such a promising tool is simple; problem gamblers or those that are developing a gambling problem can self-exclude in real time and from all gaming sites in a jurisdiction. In other words, consumers will no longer need to go to every UK or Canadian online casino they have an account at and manually self-exclude themselves; on the contrary, GameSecure enables them to self-exclude from all those sites within a given jurisdiction with a single click.
GameSecure uses a process of centralisation of the ID verification process, which makes it possible for players to instantly ban themselves from all sites at once. Therefore, the tool completely removes the need for consumers to reach out to operators or even local support centres; plus, they won’t have to wait for a response as the tool will do the trick of self-exclusion instantly.
Thus, gamblers, operators and gambling authorities can feel that a real and efficient self-exclusion system contributes towards a safer gambling environment for everyone. So far, it has been reported that Bencon Technologies has been working with UK jurisdictions and operators to integrate the self-exclusion tool into their platforms. If this proves successful, it is highly likely that other jurisdictions such as the UK will follow.
“A Timely and Much-Needed Option”
GameSecure has been welcomed by many experts, with the National Council on Problem Gambling being the first to express their support. Keith Whyte the Executive Director of the Council described the tool as “a timely and much-needed option” for solving “a major problem” in the regulated markets.
He pointed out that even the best-intentioned self-exclusion tools available to consumers were failing them as they didn’t provide seamless “coverage and support” across all sites. Therefore, the Council encourages operators and jurisdictions to adopt GameSecure and similar tools in order to conduct gaming in a more effective and ethical way.
Those unfamiliar with the NCPG should know that this is a national advocate for US problem gamblers as well as their families. The Council has a neutral stance on legalized gambling and its main objective is to promote responsible gambling to both consumers and stakeholders.
