Playtech Expands Sports Betting Platform – Next Stop, Mexico!
- July 27, 2018 By Riley Wilson -
Playtech, one of the most acclaimed software developers with almost two decades long industry presence, continues to conquer new markets – this time, the company partnered with Mexico based operators, paving the way for Playtech sports betting terminals to be installed on Mexican territory.
The timing for breaking into a new market couldn’t be better – the discussions of online gambling legalization are becoming more intense, which means that the expansion carries a lot of potential for the near future. At the moment, however, Mexico is legally restricted to land-based casinos, which, for all intents and purposes do not fall far behind Las Vegas venues.
The first step
Striking the iron while it’s hot, Playtech is establishing a firm position in Mexico which will give the provider a clear advantage over other developers once the market is ready to embrace the online gambling. The first agreement with Corporación Caliente is already signed and the self-service betting terminals will soon start popping up across the state.
This is only a logical development of the relationship between Playtech and Corporación Caliente since the two companies have maintained an excellent rapport for years. Victor De La Fuente, Business Development Director over at Corporación Caliente has stated that they are looking forward to providing a richer experience to their casino visitors and SSBTs terminals are expected to play a significant role in increasing the casino traffic and further develop the business bond between the operator and the provider.
What’s Next?
Corporación Caliente and the self-service sports betting terminals are just the beginning and a small part of Playtech’s vision. It has been rumored that Codere, a Spain-based company that partners with Corporación Caliente, is looking into entering the Mexican market as well. This means that Codere will have a pressing need for experienced and stable software developers and Playtech sounds like a perfect fit.
The expansion plans are confirmed by Armin Sageder, Playtech CEO who said that Mexico is “strategically important”. One thing is for sure – there’s no stopping Playtech, whose sports betting posts are already found in every corner of Europe, including Austria, Germany, Greece, Spain, etc.
