Playtech Releases The Money Drop Live Dealer Game Based on UK Game Show
- July 14, 2021 By Riley Wilson -
There’s no doubt in our minds that TV show-like games are the new big thing of live casino gaming. Live casino takes on the well-known Wheel of Fortune format are currently all the rage. Software providers keep trying to come up with new ways to bring the Money Wheel to gamers, and Playtech recently took inspiration from the UK’s popular The Million Pound Drop TV game show. The latest Playtech The Money Drop live dealer game is already available at online casinos worldwide.
The Inverted Money Wheel
Playtech already has a flagship Money Wheel game called Adventures Beyond Wonderland. It’s a fairly unique game in its own right, so they had to do something quite different to get attention. On paper, it seems they’ve done just that – The Million Pound Drop is an “inverted” game show, so to speak.
Let’s explain. Unlike most shows of its kind, players in the Drop are given some cash from the get-go. The goal of the game is to try and hold on to the money for as long as possible.
Although Playtech partnered with Banijat Brands, the holder of the original brand, this mechanic doesn’t translate completely. The main live dealer money wheel looks like most others in the genre, with multipliers going up to 5,000x. However, if you trigger a multiplier higher than 8x, the Drop Zones feature starts. This is where the Money Drop live casino game becomes similar to its namesake.
Player-Made Volatility
Once you get your multiplier, the money is not “yours”. Not yet, at least. Instead, you place these winnings on 4 Drop Zones, one of which randomly gest to keep the money. This happens for two rounds. Thankfully, you can just split the pot onto all four zones, which will guarantee a profit. However, it would be smaller than if you decided to go for the 25% gamble.
There’s a host of other features which add even more excitement to this already interesting gameplay. If you’d like to try and hold on to your money in The Money Drop by Playtech, you can find some of the best Playtech-powered online casinos here.
