Playtech Increases Its Market Presence in Portugal
- July 17, 2018 By Riley Wilson -
Playtech, one of the leading online gambling software and games developer, has revealed the details of the launch of Placard.pt, a website created for Sociedade de Apostas Sociais (SAS), the Portuguese online gaming operator.
Playtech has reached a long-term agreement with SAS, which means it will allow SAS to use its IMS player management platform, as well as BGT Sports online sportsbook.
An Important New Deal
This contract is just one more step forward in Playtech’s expansion into the Portuguese market, and according to this contract, SAS will see Playtech integrate its IMS player management platform and single wallet functionality into the SAS’s business operation.
This integrated solution will further empower and expand the SAS’s online offer.
Commenting on this agreement, Chief Operating Officer at Playtech, Shimon Akad said this was an exciting deal because it moved the company into an important market.
He also stated that integrating two of key products, in IMS and PBS, had been an important strategic step for Playtech.
Akad further noted that this launch had been timed to coincide with the World Cup, so it came at the perfect moment.
Playtech has reached a similar agreement in the Colombian market as well. The company supplies Self-Service Betting Terminals (SSBTs), over the counter tills, an online sportsbook, and management services to Sportium Colombia.
The Expansion Continues
Dr. Armin Sageder, Playtech BGT Sports Chief Executive Officer, said this deal was a major achievement for both PBS and Playtech and would lay down a market for future deals.
Sageder added the company would continue to work with its partners to create innovative solutions for providers in new markets.
One of SAS’s biggest shareholders, Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lisboa, is the state lottery provider, so Playtech gained more visibility when it comes to the lottery segment.
Due to the signed contract, there will be no database integration of the online operation and Santa Casa’s land-based gaming operation.
Playtech has signed a long-term agreement in 2017 with OPAP, one of the leading Greek betting and lottery operator.
Chief Executive Officer of SAS Dr. Paulo Calado said their objective was to operate in this market with a range of games for users of the platform that was also intuitive and reliable.
